BOM, BOM, BOM, BOM, BOM... BOM BA DOOBY...

So, I didn't get selected for the Modern Mini Challenge, but it does appear that the finalists were quite talented. Either that, or they had a lot more time on their hands than I did. I think maybe we need a challenge/contest that would give beginners or those that don't have 5 hours a day to spend on piecing and quilting a chance :) Anyway, I BOM'd again today. Here are the photos:

The Craftsy March block (1 of 2).

 Moral Support.

All six of the blocks so far.
Another Block of the Month at Quilt Story I am doing that I just started.

Hope you all enjoy the photos and progress! I find them very "peace" ful.

Until next time,

Mike.

Lovely blocks - especially fond of the new string block. I agree - they need to have seperate catagories in these contests. Beginner, intermediate - advanced or established. Even the slice had a LOT of established designers entered. It would certainly encourage new quilters and/or aspiring designers.

Well, they are doing a random drawing for 2 people (re: Modern Mini Challenge), but I am not sure if that is selected from all the entries or only the finalists. Thanks for enjoying my string block ;)

Nice job on the BOM - I really like that pattern! And that is an adorable photo of your moral support.

Mike. I really like the string block!

I think the answer to the skill level problem is to informally host your own. I'm not sure how you insure that everyone registers at the appropriate level, but if the win is for bragging rights and not big prizes there would be less incentive to game the system. Just a thought.

Thank you! I will let Mitch know you like his photo ;)

Thank you! Yeah, I don't think I have enough followers to host my own :( But, I do see the problem with measuring skill level. I guess it would be an honor system. Maybe if there were more rules to the contest that limited the techniques to beginner types of things. Hmmm... maybe someday... but, it's got my mind churning :)

Great job on the Craftsy blocks! They all look SO great! Isn't that BOM just the best? :)

I saw your blocks on the Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday link-up. I am doing the Craftsy blocks too! I love the colors in the broken spider web and string blocks. I am doing my blocks with 10 of the same patterns... That is until I run out of fabric. Nice to visit your blog. I am newer to the quilting world myself and really identify with your posts.

Your broken spider web looks great! I haven't had a chance to do my March BOM blocks yet, but I can't wait :)
